338 riding in Canada so building a 338 lapua

going with a cadex strike nuke stock, Shepard action, short fat barrel (need length recommendations for shooting steel at a mile but short enough for balance ) and use a scope in stock in the safe

what colour stock and action would be easy to sell?

Neat eh, 338 risings

will shoot a mile next year and maybe 2kms then sell it

If you’re trying to shoot .338 at a mile, why does it need to balance? It’s not an offhand gun. I say go long, 24”-28”.

Colour: Any factory colored stock and black action. NO paint or extraneous coatings, nobody wants your (or anyone else’s)interpretive art applied to the rifle.

So NDP Orange is out?

getting a Ndp orange for my 6 creedmoor or 6br on a sheepdog action I already have, won it on a

shooting bet, will get the barrel fluted to look like washers stacked up like a old ray gun from the 60’s

thanks for asking, was also thinking of this orange colour as a neat gun, looks silly and yet it shoots

I was going to go 24-26. would 24 be enough length to burn 90 grains of powder, or the factory 250 grain lapua made cartridges?

A few things...
A 338 Lapua Improved will launch 300 grain bullets at 3000 fps from a 28 inch barrel. That's hard to beat.
A 338-375 Ruger, will launch 250 grain bullets very close to what a standard 338 Lapua will.
A 300-375 Ruger, or 300PRC will most likely perform about the same as the 300 Norma, for much less.
The only real problem with the Ruger, is the brass. If you push it hard, it doesn't like it so much.
With all of the new bullets out, specifically a 240 grain 30 cal... the 300 PRC would be tough to beat, when factoring economics.
If economics aren't a factor, then go with the 338 Lapua Improved.
Let us know what you decide, and keep us updated on the project?
