Thanks everyone! I'm looking at getting a used Mossberg 500/Lakefield 400 as a first shotgun as I've heard they're cheap, reliable, and versatile with the wide variety of mods and barrels you can get for them. I heard the Remington 870 is good as well but can't find any for a good price in my area from the outlets I've seen.

It’s would be hard to go wrong with either. I’ve been wanting a Lakefield just for the Made in Canada marking.
