I'm able to justify spending some money on a new pistol for ipsc when i complete my black badge course later this weekend.

I've been using a CZ p07 which i hands down love(after 3500 rounds), but the short sights base and the fact that mags don't usually drop free (damn European design!) i think i want to upgrade.

Either i join the club with what everyone uses and pickup a cz shadow. Or maybe try something and go for an STI 1911. Budget seems to be the 1000$ mark, so the range master is out of the question. :runaway:
but 9mm would be my choice of caliber.

I've never seen an STI in person(Let alone shot that platform with anything but a modded norinco 1911), but read enough that they seem to know exactly what their doing on the platform.

What is everyone's thoughts on my two choices?
Shadow VS Trojan

Depends on what division you want to shoot it. Shadow will put you in Production & Trojan will put you in Classic so you gotta see which one you want to be in.

I say Trojan, so easy spending other people's money.

Don't forget power factor for your chosen division(if applicable), you may want to go 40 cal. You can't shoot the 1911 in production.

I am not familiar with that model of CZ.

My CZ75 and 85 pistols had a strip of flat spring steel at the back of the mag housing that prevented the mag from dropping. I ripped the spring out and they drop cleanly now. Take a look at yours.

P07 duty was the gun my son used for action shooting until he tried my 1911's (all six mags always dropped free). Now I have a trojan 9mm on the way for him. Many people and especially new shooters will shoot a crisp single action trigger much better than a DA/SA trigger.

You can't really go wrong with either the Trojan or the Shadow. IMO the Shadow with a comp hammer and springs is like cheating but it doesn't stop me from using it :)

Try to shoot both off a holster and find out which one fits your egos. I found I could get a more consistent grip with the CZ and thin VZ piranha grips so I went that route.
