Hey guys

A friend and I are wanting to shoot competitive trap this season.

should i be registering us with the ATA for the year? https://www.shootata.com/Membership/ATAOnlineMembershipApplication/tabid/124/pageID/PRCS/Default.aspx

We want to shoot at TITSC on may 3,2015 ... Id like some info on how the day will go and what we need to have in order to shoot that day.

We both have 12 ga beretta xtrap combo's so our guns are fine?

thanks any help is apreciated

Yes you will need an ATA membership and you will also have to purchase an OPTA membership which you can do at any registered shoot you attend first. Aside from that bring your ammo, shooting glasses and hearing protection. You can purchase an ATA membership online @ http://www.shootata.com or you can purchase it at the shoot. Check out the ATA website, lots of good info. Once you join the membership number you are given is yours for life. No confusion in renewing etc. that way. Good luck and welcome aboard, you're going to love it!

As for how the day will go at TITS ? Once you get there get signed up right away, ask them to ensure you are on a full squad. Its less hectic of a pace. I have always preferred getting to shoots early and pulling an early squad if possible as the sun and heat are usually less intense but thats a personal choice. You can also usually pick your preferred starting station unless the squad you are joining has a few signed on already and someone else has chosen the same station#? Then after you have done all that and paid your $ it's a matter of getting ready and listening for your squad number to be called to ready and then called to shoot. The bank system will be explained to you or should be so that you can locate your starting trap field # and know which subsequent field #'s you will shoot your remaining targets on. Then its waiting time. See who captured high gun etc. If you play any options and win any $$ it is usually mailed to you as it takes the folks running the shoot a few days to get everything in order. Best of luck and above all else have fun.

The ATA regularly mail free membership coupons to clubs for new members. If you ask nicely, maybe they can use one of the coupons on you and save the first year membership fee.

They can get you all signed up at TITS when you arrive. They got 5 free ATA memberships and may or may not have any left. I expect that the program will be 100 16 yard targets, 100 handicap targets and 50 pair of doubles. You can shoot them all or any combination, so, if you plan to shoot them all, you will need 300 shells. When you sign up, tell them you are new to shooting ATA targets and that you would appreciate some guidance. I believe that Steve Hajoglou is still running their ATA shoots. If you can catch him when he slows down for a second, talk to him. He is a very nice guy and can help you get introduced to ATA targets. Please tell him that Bill Malcolm says hello.

Good luck and keep it fun.
