Got the new CZ "Bobwhite" from Epps today. 20ga, 26" bbls, 3" chamber, 5 choke tubes (Cyl, IC, Mod, IMod, Full), double triggers, ejectors, manual safety, weighs 6.5lbs.

Epps had the best price that I could find @ $799. Gun fits and handles very well. Fit and finish is pretty good, but the checkering was cut before the stock was finished and is now filled with varnish or whatever :? I may get it fixed up someday and re-cut. I like the upland style pad w/ the hard toe on the top.

I have not tried it out as it just came in today :D

Overall I am pleased with the SG.

considering what else you could get in a SxS in that price range it looks like you got a very nice gun. Does Epps stock these or was it a special order?

They MAY have one left. I ordered mine back in June

London Arms (1-416-675-1322) is the importer. If you want one, I would give them a call to see where all the guns from the most recent shipment went to. You may get one from a dealer somewhere.

Damn nice looking gun. I've seen a couple of the CZ guns locally but all with single selective triggers. Your's is the one to get with double triggers and the straight stock. You might try to clean up that checkering with a wire brush to get that finish out.

Looking forward to a field report on this gun.

AWESOME!
I was wondering who was the lucky feller who got the Bobwhite (I was looking in the Epps website).
CONGRATULATIONS!

It looks wonderful.

Thanks. I have been after the CZ for a while now. Epps is my go to store for firearms and have the best prices and customer service IMHO.

That's a pretty nice gun you've got there. It even looks like there may be a bit of cast in the stock? 6.5 lbs is a maybe little on the heavy side for a 20, but it's overall balance is more important. Sorry, even the weight thing is a non-issue at that price. You'd have to double what you paid (or more!) to lose a pound. Tasteful engraving, nice colouring on the frame, looks like a dandy little uplander.

You could buy a checkering tool from a gunsmith/supply house and recut the lines to get the varnish out of there. Measure the lines per inch and get the right cutter. The other thing I might consider doing is stripping the varnish off the stock in favour of an oil finish, but that's just me.

Well done!

BTW Put the Cyl and IC chokes in there, and put the other three back in the box.

That's exactly what I did :D Even IC is too tight sometimes. I use a Skeet tube in my 20ga/870.

Someday down the road I will get the checkering cleaned up and refinish the wood

The two CZ's I handled both had right hand cast. The guns are on the porky side but they are made with 3" chambers. Even the English and Spanish guns are heavier when proofed for magnum loads. Personally, 6.5lbs is about where I want an upland gun to be. Not too heavy to carry but enough weight that I can shoot the gun respectably.

I shot a friend's CZ .410 a couple of times at sporting today. Way too light for me although a cute little gun.

Someone please expain the benefits of "cast" to me.

There does seem to be a bit of cast on this SG. Looking from the rear of the gun there is a wee bit to the right, but not much. It seems to fit well. When I put it up my focus is level with the barrel and right down the middle.

Note: Was going to try it oout yesterday. Got everything loaded, only to find I had no 20 ammo in the house.

That's exactly what the cast is for... to get your eye looking right down the center, when you sholder the gun naturally.

By the way, that better be a "Remington CZ", or you won't be my idol anymore!

Nice.

Great pics SC!

I like that "hitching post" for the old mandatory hunt pics...:D

Hey, is there a maritime source for those pants with the reinforced legs? I can't find them anywhere around here and chaps are a pain in the ass.

I have a buddy who raises pheasant and releases them here in NS, 44 of them this year. I may raise some myself next year.

We don't limit out every day down here, but we get pretty steady shooting.

regards,

I got mine at (GAG!!) LeBaron in Mississauga last summer.

I feel SO dirty, cuz I swore I would never buy anything from LeBaron again. A friend picked me up at the airport and went there before heading home. It just happened, and I promise I'll never (maybe) do it again! I feel SO much better now that I've told someone about what happened :D

BTW ............ They are Wrangler brand and I like them and I would buy another pair :)
