If you've been looking for a 453 American in .22LR, Canadian Tire in Greenwood NS has at least one new one for sale. $729 plus taxes.
The one I looked at had plain Jane wood, but beautiful high gloss blueing on both barrel and receiver. The plain wood is all that saved me from being a new rifle owner this morning!
I have no idea if CTC will ship to your local store, may be worth asking if you're wanting one badly enough.
 
Hey Chilly~if the wood was all that was holding you back, head back to the store and grab it. Those are no longer produced, and the 453 has a great trigger. Looking at what what the asking price of USED 452s (lesser triggers) are these days...$729 for a new 453 strikes me as being a good deal, but a VERY good opportunity.
 
A price of $729 for a new 453 is very good. They're not supposed to be making them anymore. Of course the big advantage of the 453 trigger is that when it's unset it is like a regular trigger, suitable for hunting, and when set it's good for target work. That would make it the 453 an appealing model for someone who does both. For someone who does only one or the other, the SST is unnecessary. Nevertheless, since new 453 Americans are supposed to be rare, the price of $729 may make it more attractive and irresistable to the CZ aficionado.
 
It's not really a rifle that I'm interested in owning at this point. I doubt it would out shoot my 452 Varmint, and $800 to get a better trigger doesn't appeal to me. If it had killer wood it'd be more attractive. Yes, I'm a slot for pretty walnut!
 
The 453 lux with set trigger actually impresses me even tho I have the nicest triggers on my other rifles this set trigger is actually better than I thought it would be. Didn’t think it would be that great. I would say jump on the 453 American. I would if I didn’t have the 453 lux already
