New Daniel Defense 7.62

Doesn't look like they integrated any of the 308 ar innovations brought to market by the dpms g2 series.
No way I could go back to a standard 308 ar configuration, the ergonomics suck in comparison.
That's a pity...

Was wondering the same thing. I'll wait until its' release and see how it stacks up against the likes of Aeros' M5 7.62 based platform before rushing in just cause it's roll marked DD..

the DPMS G2 has been of great interest to me lately. How do you like yours so far?

Their answer to the KAC/LMT. Using the same SR25/DPMS gen 1 modified bolt style from what I could see. 8.5 pounds. But as we know, with the GII the Recon with the heavier SS barrel weights in at that. Take of that 1.05 pound obsolete handguard and replace with the MI and you just lost half a pound.

I think the DD will be an interesting option based on quality and giving something at a price range below the KAC/LMT while offering most of the same features. This appears to have been their target. From what I have read it seems they were right on what they were going for.

The DD rifle looks cool but not crazy about the rail/barrel mounting.

I've never been a fan of that look with the DD rifles. But they are well made and come in at a good price point. In the case of the 7.62 version though, I think they were a bit too late and the Freedom group really came up with something special with the GII which caught everyone off guard. I suspect the DD was a casualty with this new product being introduced with no warning and being available right away.

At $3200 they're just about at the price of the LMT MRP .308. That's a good chunk of coin.

Agreed. The standard MWS CQB with chrome-lined 16" barrel lists for $3659.00 with the current exchange rate. As much as I like the DD product and respect Marty Daniel's company pilosophy, the fact is for that kind of money? I will spend a bit more and buy the rifle that has succeeded in at least 2 different, recent, military DMR trials. I was an early DD convert with the 2002 rail for my (then kinda rare) Armalite AR10 Infantry Carbine. That rail came with the 6 big mounting bolts, the look of which eventually grew on me. I quite like the new 4-bolt look, and think DD have done a nice job of streamlining and integrating the appearance of the barrel/forend attachment bolts on their new .308 rifle. But that's just me, YMMV. At the end of the day it was a tough decision, but my money finally went to the LMT product for its established performance and calibre flexibility at that price-point.

Cheers,
