New Davey Crickett for my Boy

Finally got to picking up my sons first gun, a new Davey Crickett! Unfortunately all they had in stock was hot pink and the price was impossible to say no. I managed to get him a new black stock to attach to it and we will keep the pink for when his sister gets a little older and he is ready to move up to bigger and better things. Pics to follow...heading out to shoot tomorrow!

Sounds like fun~congrats o n your little fella's first rifle! I spend allot of my time shooting/hunting exposing new shooters to the sport. Very rewarding. 2/3 of my own kids are pretty avid shooters, one has her FSC & hunter's apprentice license now too! Some great "proud dad" moments for sure.

PS~if you want a target that kids won't grow tired of shooting...jam a row of sticks in the ground about 18" long, about 18" apart. Inflate balloons, pierce a small hole in the loose rubber beneath the knot, and stretch it over the top of the stick. I can almost guarantee you'll run out of hot air/ammo before your son runs out of interest popping balloons. My kids had (still have) ZERO interest in punching paper.

Sounds like a great idea! I did grab him a metal .22LR cowbell target and a crow silhouette but I will make sure balloons are in the range bag as well!
