New deer load - Report

I am a fricken deer magnet, I tell you.

Next time we get together you must ask my wife about her magnetic attraction to deer!

Last one was a 3 month old Neon that was totaled after a hit on a mulie doe. The damn thing wrapped itself around the A-Pillar , swung up the driver's side and took out the door mirror and window and ended up in the back seat!

my old truck had a good kill count, so farthe new truck has not done any road hunting. (knock on wood)

which reminds me that I need to finish up welding that pushbar :D Only thing thats going to save you is a good chunk of metal up front

Well I found that with the 20" tires and raised suspension, even a big doe could not come over the top of the hood. I have at least that much protection. What new truck did you get Phil?

Gary, that sounds horrific! Hope the wife escaped injury!

Geeze, don't you know you need a smaller projectile at higher velocity?

Load testing was done on a horse but should prove adequate for deer.

got a ford 250 superduty a year and a half ago. Been slowly rigging it up have the bumper and headach rack in the back 9500lb winch up front and a 2500lb winch in the box, no more fighting with a comealong and mr moose

just put on some fairly agressive 265-70R17 tires, factory off road tires were crap

I had "buck fever" at 4 am this morning, pulled the shot and totally missed on 2 fawns and a doe. Maybe my little Sonoma isn't enough to kill deer.

It takes a good hunter and great skill to know when to back away from a bad shot.

Wait for a better opportunity!

by the way, a Sonoma might be like using an M-1 Carbine on deer.......

Hmm. To Ram or to Dodge? I suspect the trajectory could use some improvement. Perhaps one of those hidious fast and furious style wings would help. Wind drift may suffer though. What kinda numbers were you gettin on the chrony?

Can anyone top four deer at once? My dad and I used to put a lot of miles on his F-350's. His record was four deer at one time. We had to finish one off with an axe but the others were out on contact.

Our monthly total has been seven. That includes the four at one time. That summer we hit eight.

That truck was retired a couple of years ago, but his "new"er one has had it's share as well. Just counting the ones he tells me about I think he must be close to ten.

The worst one I've seen is a huge buck that my brother and I hit doing about 110-115kph. It hit so hard the truck (with trailer behind) seemed to jump upwards. On impact the antlers shattered. When we went back to pull the deer off the road it was inside out and steaming. My brother had to pull it off the road because he was driving (those are the rules). It had gone under the truck and trailer. The trailer had a wooden floor with 1/8" gaps and there was blood splattered all over inside. The next morning our dog was licking the blood out of the rim holes. When I got to school my friend was telling people how, on the way to school, they had seen a giant blood streak about 5 feet wide and 30 feet long.

I once had a deer jump over my old mazda 626 Lx. The girlfriend lives in the country and all we saw was the bottom of its legs and feet fly across my winsheld. Another i dunno if it was a buck or doe but we saw it go into the gutter thinking it was a big raccoon then it came and stood in the middle of the road. I was stopped for 5 seconds with my highbeams on just amazed at it.

if these are too graphic sorry.
