Great idea! Prices?

I like the idea of a detachable shotshell carrier, but I have to admit, I'm not digging the "soft" aspect of it... On a rifle, with thinner cartridges, it makes sense to me, but it seems a bit awkward to stick 12 gauge shells into a soft holder. I'd prefer a removable hard sidesaddle. However, the phrase "designed for shotguns where a traditional polymer sidesaddle is not available" (I paraphrased) plays a large role here... if I can't get a standard sidesaddle for my Ithaca, I'll have to get you guys to ship me a couple.

As a side note: This would be good if you coupled it with a belt... put a couple chunks of velcro on the belt, stick a couple of these to it (and the side of the receiver), and you can simply tear off the empty shellholder from the side of your shotgun and replace it with a full one from your belt...

The more I think about it, the more I'm liking it... Compact, versatile, cheap to produce and ship, and it comes in a variety of colours. If I may be so forward: It's like the Ikea of the firearms world (and I mean that as a compliment).

How is the backing Velcro attached to the gun?

The DSC comes with a strip of 2" stick on velcro, the good stuff not the stuff you find at fabricland ect.
Some test we have done in the last few months.
we attached a strip of the velcro too out benelli M2 and allso a rem 870 police that we painted green with guncote paint.
We then left the stick on velcro for 3 months then tryed to pull it off to see what damage if any to the finish of the guns.
Now the fun part, the sticky velcrow took some time to get an edge up so we could pull it off, it really stuck on their well.
But came off no probem and cleaned up in a few seconds with some hoppes #9.
Same for the painted rem 870, i must say i would have figgered some of the painted finish would have come with it, but i guess due to the fact the paint is epoxy based it was not an issue.

Yes i understand you issue with the "soft" V hard shell holder, but this units is by no means soft, it is made of fabric but its very stiff, not like the 12 ga ammo belts you see on the market at bass pro, crappy tire ect.
Tell you what PM me your address ill send one out to you to test on your ithica, just post you findings hear.

How well does it hold the shells in place? If you were running with the firearm (say at port arms) will they stay in place or will they be all shifted up or down?

They hold in place very well, their would be no point in us making somthing that would not hold in place when running, or fall out while shooting.
We have tested this idea in rain and snow, its work well.
I,m allso very big into tactical shotgun shooting , and anyone thats been to one of my matches knows i run the guns hard and dirty.
So in short i know the consept works.
You see some US companys run these on their tac vests on the chest, that alot of bouncing up and down, no issues their.
Blue force gear has a complet line of Tac gear based on using velcro, the DAP line if i remmber right.

Sorry boss, Didn't mean to offend... I was just curious how well it would take the shake. I think it is a great idea for guns that you don't want to to drill into.

No offence taken , just trying to get the point accross that, this is a simple but well made product, it may only be made of fabric but it more then up for the job.

just an FYI, but the US Marine Corps runs thier guns like this for breaching, the tear off panels means they can store the spare ammo anywhere and just rip it and stick it to refill the side saddle.... easy as can be.

also the magpul shotgun video demonstrates this type of product as well and it held up to allthe shooting they did.

Intresting i did not know that w:h:w:h:

Certain Tac vests have such shell holders velcroed inside a small front pocket. Eagle Industries comes to mind, but I've never seen it applied to a shotgun aside from a buttstock cuff.

Good job Simon. The more options the merrier. In fact, your idea is now compatible with Tac vests that do have this pocket option and any patch of exposed velcro sewn on a vest, or anywhere else for that matter. There's usually lots velcro real estate sewn onto vests for patches and such.
The only disadvantage I see with this compatibility is that your 7 shell carrier won't fit 4-5 shell capacity pockets I've seen used on vests. You may want to consider various capacity sized shell holders for these vest applications.

Do we really need a 7 shell capacity stuck to the side of a receiver. Getting on the heavy side and unbalanced. I would limit those to 6 and make some with 4 shell capacity. One could always buy two.

I'm up for one on price point alone. Being a guy that has a "tactical" turkey gun, it would be nice to just remove it when I don't want it. I've got to put together another S&J order soon and this will be the first thing I add. My only dislike is the fact that you have the velco on there after you take it off, but I can get past that. :D Nice job Simon.
