To start; I have been rather impressed with the accuracy of these guns (NOT sub-moa however some more experimenting with loads may be necessary). They are nice to handle, and good value for the money.
This was my view to start with these guns, but it is starting to change.

I have a 45/70 (SN 340###) and a 22-250 (SN 240###)
I have had serious problems with mis-fires on both of these guns!

After doing some looking, I came across a site: Greybeardsonline. It has a tonne of information on NEF and H&R guns.
One of the first topics under the FAQ is the discussion of mis-fires! It was stated that problems could occur if the trigger was not pulled back completely.
Upon getting some more information it was decided that the problem is that the trigger does need to be pulled beyond the release point, to ensure a proper fire.

To experiment with this new found knowledge I took both of my guns to a person that was familiar with accurate shooting. This guy had the 45/70 mis-fire FIVE times in a row. Then just to test our luck he fired the 22-250, again it mis-fired FIVE times in a row.

Quick Re-cap: One shooter, two guns, five cartidges each, and TEN mis-fires.
Each of these rounds were later fired off by virtually 'slapping' the trigger.

I wonder how a novice shooter, like myself, can use these guns to learn how to properly 'sqeeze' a trigger? How can I get better if my gun can't be?

On another note: I have an H&R 22 Hornet that has had hundreds and hundreds of rounds fired without a single mis-fire.
