That is a VERY clean example! Despite being dated 1915, it could have been made at any time between 1915-1917. If you see no Finnish markings on it (I did not in the photos) chances are it was one of the undelivered rifles that were bought out by the US Gov and sold as surplus at a loss to keep the gun makers alive. Not a common example if that's the case. Value of a Finn would be $450-$550 realistically, a very clean non Finn should be at least $1000 to the right guy I suspect. If you find any flaming bomb marks, or a big "US" it was likely issued to one of the several US state militias given these or used for training by the federal forces. If you pick this up, please do a thread with some really good pics. There'll be quite a bit of interest.

EDIT: If you find US markings, you hit a gold mine, a couple sold in the US at RIA for about $2500ea

Mux69: The buttplate should also have a matching serial #. The floorplate on NEW's was un-numbered but should, of course, have NEW stamps. The bolt matches but hard to see if the font is identical so you could also verify that the bolt body, etc, are all NEW. I have one in similar condition that was in Finland but still has original, matching bolt and buttplate. Doesn't even have metric distances stamped on the right of the rear sight- just a small SA stamp on the right barrel. The Finns left many rifles unmodified. Value is a tough question in our market. I paid $450 for mine about 3 years ago. If you can verify that all parts are NEW I would put the value of this at > $750, whether or not it went to Finland. The US surcharged examples have little Eagle Heads all over them which should be easily spotted. A very nice rifle but be aware that NEW and Remingtons M91's are far from rare in Canada, and many have good originality. Really rare would be to find an original, matching Russian M91.

I have a New England Westinghouse Mosin, but mine has a patina on the metal and Finnish markings on the left side of the receiver. Super nice rifle, especially if you like history. Its a very long rifle, which can pose a problem for storage.

Westinghouse made about a million rifles, which sounds like a lot but in the relm of Mosins its pretty small lol.
