Hey, name's Kyle and I currently reside in Likely, British Columbia. My entire family has been avid hunters for the past 200 years so it's in the blood. I was hunting up until I was 15 and then stopped mainly due to school and girls taking up most of my time lol!

On November 15th I sent away for my PAL and I still haven't received it which is sort of disconcerting although I suppose it could still arrive! Got my fingers crossed that something didn't happen and I was refused.... :(

I need to be able to get my RPAL for work so if I'm refused my PAL then I've got a problem.

Its Christmas so you probably won't get it until mid-Jan...but in the meantime you can start planning what to buy. Apply for access to the EE and feast your eyes! Oh, and welcome!

And how long have you lived in Likely? I remember the first time I went there, summer of 1973. Great little place.

Thanks for the heads up! I sort of figured mid january. Do the send you a letter saying you were denied or do you just go on wondering until the end of January? I went in without reading the book and challenged the test and scored only a 98% which sort of sucks.

I've already applied for the EE and I'm just awaiting a reply. I do have a number of firearms I already own although they are registered and kept at my father's place.

Parker-Hale .308 Norma Magnum Safari Edition (left to me by my grandfather who passed away a couple years ago), sawed off .410 (also belonged to my grandfather), single shot .22, etc.

I've lived off and on out here for the past 15 years although a family friend has owned the bar out here for about the past 30 years.

Hard to believe there's internet that far out in the sticks.

Wait a minute...

Sadly we only have dialup but we are supposed to be getting highspeed within the next couple years.

Call them they use the "frustration factor" same as insurance companies.

If you call them they will likely say it has been approved and you will have it in a week. Don't despair they just like to play this superiority game.

By the way don't wait for a renewal in 5 years as they will probably not send one. Call them about it a full 6 months in advance about the renewal.

Hopefully, by then a majority CPC government will end this nonsense.

I'd like to get is soon since a family friend wants to sell two shotguns (not sure what to offer him for a fair price so maybe someone can help).

One is a Winchester Model 12, 12 gauge pump. 2 3/4 FULL and looks like it's from the 60's since he's had it forever. The other is a .410 bolt action made in spain.

He also has a couple other oldies hanging on the wall purely for decoration.

Welcome to the site.I did not relize that Likely had a bar! Go to Horsefly in the summer for gophers, any in Likely?

Yup there has been a bar in Likely ever since the start of Likely in the Gold Rush times!

No gophers just usually so many grouse a single .410 shot will bag at least two! :D

Phone CFC and track down your PAL. You will probably find it on the desk of the CFO in B.C. and they will process it as you wait on the phone.
98% for a walk in challenge on the test is fine - one answer wrong, IIRC.

It's not bad but I keep thinking that if I had actually READ the book I might have gotten 100% :D

I think the CFC would be closed until tomorrow at least due to the holidays correct?

UPDATE: You can now check the status of licensing online. (Didn't think it would take 10 days for my forms to reach their destination in the mail)

Application Received on: 2008/11/24

Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

Ever hear of a guy called Jim Cleveland from there???His family was from there. He worked for me for a couple years.Knocked two teeth out when a guy went to punch him,he ducked and knocked his teeth out on the bar table.Funny as heck.

I used to live at Spokin Lake. Telus was constantly telling us that we were gettign high speed. Hopefully they deliver for you guys!

We got a grant of about $50,000 if I remember correctly just towards getting hispeed internet out here. It's just a matter of having them run a line all the way from Williams Lake out here!

I was just talking to my daughter that lives in Surrey and she was telling me she was in likely last summer visiting some friends. she said it was nice up there. welcome to the site.
