New from the Rock

Hey,

I'm Mick (from Newfoundland) and I'm a Newbe here, been with the Reserves for 15 years and finally decided to start getting some of my own stuff instead of always using (and waiting) the Army's.

That being said I want it all but don't have the cash for a one stop purchase. I'm thinking about starting off with a Walther P22 for plinking with. I'm also interested in a nice shotgun and eventualy a rifle. Other than that everything else is a pipe dream.

Cheers!

Mick 13 Welcome aboard. You live in a beautiful province. Once you start shooting you will be into reloading. Based on the size of moose you guys get , if you hunt what rifle cal would ya look at. 270 308 30-06 . Was researching caribou hunts on the rock today. I figure my 30-06 will do its got me 4 moose.

how about a half serious .22 like a ruger or browning. a walther isnt ideal for plinking. it has a tiny sleeve for a barrel, small grips, and has way to many parts for my liking.. do you really need a single and double action handgun with ambi safety.. i owned one for a couple years, then sold it.. i wasnt really to impressed with the gun.

Whatta ya at?:D Dorm here, in Yellowknife but originally from Grand Falls.
Welcome aboard. Keep your eyes open here and you'll fill the empty spots in the gun locker soon enough.

excelent! As for the P22 for plinking, thats what I was thinking of starting off with, but eventually I'd want a 9mm. Maybe I should cut out the middle man and go straight to the P99? That or a Sig P226 - nice looking bit there.
