Hello All.

I am new to here and to the firearms community in general.
I grew up in a gun-less, non hunting home and only decided after many years that this was something I wanted to do.

So I have taken my courses, got my licences (RPAL is in the mail ) and I'm excited to buy my first firearm.

I'm mostly interested in target shooting and once I am confident perhaps going out after rabbits and grouse. I'm pretty set on getting a ruger 10/22 because of its large fan base, ease in ability to repair it and its price. I have visited a few gun shops and they have recommended a synthetic stock but I think I really just want a wood stock. Something about the wood makes it more exciting. Maybe I am trying to get as far away from the plastic toy feeling as I can.

Anyway,

Just saying hi.

Hello and welcome. A 10/22 is a good gun. The typical evolution is to progress to other firearms, short and long, once you get used to the one you've got. It gets to be an addiction in some, so watch out for that. There just are fewer more satisfying things than being able to hit what you aim at. And challenging. Lots of people here will be happy to answer questions and help you out. Enjoy the site.

Hi, I am from Thunder Bay as well. I
am looking for a good club to join. Particularly I am intersted in a club oriented towards
IPSC and/or skeet sports.

Thanks.

I've shot at the TBay range - used to live there... a bunch of guys from that range got me into shooting in a single morning - didn't take much.

Nice city.

Beautiful range.

Hey Archie , lots of Thunder Bay folks here , i'm another one of them .
