Hello fellow shooters!

I'm a relative newb from Toronto, interested in guns primarily in ways related to hunting. Rimfires, centerfires, shotguns, most things that go bang.
I do have my RPAL but probably will be collecting more non-restricted's for a while before doing anything with it.

I havent shot all that much in my life, and only got my PAL last year, but I intend to change that this year, and am doing my hunters education course in April.

Any advice for a soon to be new hunter for some good starting animals?

Does anybody know of some animals that might be considered pests which can be shot year round? I might try for coyotes at some point this summer but I get the impression they aren't an easy animal to hunt.

Also, If anyone might be willing to take a novice on a hunt some time, I'm dying to learn!

Nice to have you with us. I'm thinking of proposing a get-together here in the west end for any CGN'ers who are interested. You'd be more than welcome to come out for a wings and beer.

Start with target practice first. When you hunt, you want the first shot to count. Once you perfected that, the ladies and gents here will steer you in the right direction to take your first animal

Definitely sounds interesting! I'm in the west end anyhow, and convenience doesnt hurt!

Oh, yeah, I understand that. I'm thinking of trying to make some time to go fishing and get some shooting in this weekend if everything works out.

I tend to favour manual actions, and intend to work on my skills as much as possible.

Places to shoot.

As anyone who lives in the area knows, it can be very difficult to find a place to shoot outside of a few ranges which might have various restrictions or hours of operation or costs associated with them:(. Anyone who can point me in the right direction becomes my new favourite person.:D

Welcome to a fun sport. Btw, you will have to take a hunting course and get your H1 licence before you can go hunting. Even small game requires a permit and predator hunting needs a tag

Yeah, I already signed up for one, mine is in April. Glad to see everyone's watching us newbs get started out right:D.
