Just picked up a very nice CZ 455 in 17 HMR. Very excited to get her scoped up and start plinking. Now time to pick a scope... Looking for something economical but effective. I like the idea of the turret models available such as the Scorpion Red Hot 17, or the BSA Sweet 17. Any first hand experience and input would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I have the BSA Sweet 17. Its okay. Crazy heavy for a scope of its size. Must have a lot of glass in it. Not particularly exceptional optics, but not garbage either. If you can afford to spend more, I would recommend it. Something brighter and clearer, and with a bullet drop reticle. Look at Nikons with their reticle. Its a bit busy because of the reticle, but a lot brighter optics.

Highly do NOT recommend BDC reticles. Ever.

Complete trash. Very limited versatility.

Might as well just get a mil reticle, with or without a christmas tree. And calculate all your own holds.

I use a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9X40 Rimfire-MOA on my 17HMR...I had a Bushnell on the rifle before....the Leopold was a game changer....planning on converting all my scoped rifles to Leupold

Thanks for everyones input. I know many will cringe, but I went ahead and ordered the "Red Hot 17". I am mainly a "utility" shooter, and this gun will be used for shooting targets in the bush, shooting grouse, maybe the occasional incidental coyote when we go to the interior. As a reference to my standards, I have had a $50 Tasco 4x on my BRNO .22 LR for 30 years and don't mind it, so I am speculating this will be more than satisfactory for my needs. Ill be sure to report my opinion once received and tried out! Thanks again.
