I ended up ordering one of the new GA PPR rifles in 6 GT. I had never imported a firearm before, but it couldn’t have been easier with Prophet River, very smooth. Only took 3 weeks from when it was finished production. It’s something I’d definitely consider doing again in the future.

It showed up this week and I got everything mounted up. Can’t wait to get some test loads worked up and break in the barrel. Also running the new PR2-MIL reticle which is VERY nice.

Should be a great match to my current rimfire rig

Build time from when I ordered was 5 months. Import fees were $250 plus 5% GST when it crosses the boarder.

It would be worse to buy something locally with 12% sales tax in Manitoba lol

Nice GAP! One of their rifles is a bucket list item. Both GAP & PR are fantastic to deal with, IME.

Let us know how you like the 6GT! I'm leaning that way for my next barrel.

Thanks!

It’s funny, this rifle was the result of a lot of saving and selling other guns I had bought over the years. It was a once in a lifetime purchase for me that I really wanted to invest in. And at over $8K CDN this rig still qualifies for production division LOL.

Good thing they decided to draw that line in the sand to keep it “attainable” for new shooters…

LOL. "Attainable". That's hilarious. No wonder I keep getting assigned to the Trailer Park division with my trued/timed M700. :d

Every GAP I've been around has been a hammer. I'd bet youll have a load in no time. What barrel make? Bart?

Yup. 26” Bartlein MTU. I was a little concerned with the contour as the heaviest Ive had is varmint sendero contours. But in the manners stock it’s really not bad. This one comes to an even 18lbs all set up with an empty 12rd mag. I know the 22+ lb rifles are all the rage these days, but this feels like plenty to me

Did you pay for the rifle or did prophet river have to do it? The last time I inquired about an import I was told that the procedure had changed and that they would have to pay the seller directly.

Very nice rifle by the way.

I just called GA when they announced the rifle and paid directly. They said they didn’t care as long as I’m taking responsibility for importing it, which I confirmed was fine. Then I simply sent them over Prophet Rivers FFL state side info. When the rifle was done, it gets shipped over to them, then imported to prophet, then shipped out from there. It’s was surprisingly easy and fast.

Awesome rifle I had to look up the 6 gt as I had never heard of it. It looks like a cartridge that should have took right off since there are no midrange 6mm cartridges that are reputed to feed well in a regular boltface action. Is it hard to get 6gt brass in canada? I had a 6br with a savage prefit but sold the barrel and replaced it with a 243 because I didn't like to have to single feed

Bighorn Sales in BC recently posted that they received a 6GT brass shipment.

I picked up Alpha brass from GoBigTactical. They seem to stock it regularly. Similar price and quality to Lapua imo.
