I guess some guys in Saskatchewan have come up with the new game of "Gopher Bowling".

They are loading a 50-70 with a 600gr. bullet in front of 2.5gr. of Bullseye powder. This launches it at a blazing 320fps or so.

At this speed the round will not penetrate the gopher, but causes it to fold in half around the bullet and excellerates it from 0 to 300fps right now! I guess they are saying with a clear run they can send the critter almost 100m down range! They have recovered some bullets that could almost be used again. Anything over 340 fps or so is too fast. I don't think they have tried 45-70's but it would probably work if you could keep the heaviest bullets below 330 fps or so.

When I was a kid, my slingshot had a similar effect. Not for 100 yards, but a few feet for sure.

100 yards? no way.. 10m? maybe...

137.14FPE is not enough energy to toss a gopher 100 meters..

I have read that the average gopher weighs 400 grams, thats .88lb

I doubt it would go much over 10m, if at all 10m..


Cool idea none the less.
