Hey guys,
Im looking at purchaseing a new glock but I cant decide on the model 17 in the colour od or model 22 blk with rtf . What caliber would you recomend and which colour. What's the pros and the cons.
thank's marc

I have a 22, Gen 3 and really like it.
If I could do it over again I would get the RTF one though as I like the feel better.
Caliber choice between 9mm and 40 is quite unimportant IMO, but I like the 40 a little better just because it's what police officers carry--- more a novelty than anything else though.
You win either way!

Well, since you apparently want the board here to be your opinion and your brain, forget the glock. Get a Beretta 92fs. It will feel better in your hand and looks as good as a glock.

I am going to say go with the 17 in OD because I have one and I am awesome.....just ask my mom.

Or an M&P, better ergos for sure. Glocks are very blocky.:agree:

I had the same thoughts--bought the .40 because I hope to one day join the local Police Service and that's what they carry, so I bought it in hopes of being better acquainted with what one day may save my life or someone elses.

The 9mm does use cheaper ammo which is nice but I personally liked the feel of the .40 better during use. I went to the local range and shot both too, that helped cement my decision.

I would recommend the Glock 17 gen 3, you can get a good deal (like 625-650$ new) on those since gen 4 is almost out (If you don't need the extra bling bling of a gen 4).

If you don't reload go 9mm, if you do or plan to then go with whatever floats your boat.

For color.... go basic black. It's always classic and it never goes out of style.... ;)

Interesting opinion coming from someone whose avatar is a glock.

To the OP, I don't think you can go wrong with a G17 in black. I would love to have a RTF model, but those funny slide serrations kinda bother me. The 9mm caliber is cheaper....from what I understand, the .40 is primarily purchasing for IPSC reasons.

The colour is a personal choice, I don't think you would get bored of OD any faster than black.

What do you want it for?

Plinking? IPSC Production? IPSC Standard? USPSA Multigun? CCW?

The chambering probably should depend on what sport and which division you would compete in. Another key consideration is which of the two is in the most common usage among your local law enforcement agencies, because that factor can prove to be an advantage too.

The standard Glock grips would serve for any purpose, including concealed carry . The RTF grips are sharp and ideal for mud, blood, and beer, but would abrade you were you to wear (the RTF Glock) under clothing and close to your body. For CCW? Standard Glock. Going to war? RTF Glock.

Only you can choose the colour.

Can some one elaborate on the slide serrations on the rtf model, i cant seem to find anything about them.
thank's

Buds most G34 owners are happy campers, give this model some consideration.
I really like the OD green frame, that's why I bought a OD G34.

It looks 100 X better then a GLOCK pistol. Unfortunately M9's don't stand a chance compared to a Glock in reliability, not by a long shot.

OP -
The bottom line is, which one do you enjoy to shoot? Ammo prices shouldn't be holding you back, inless you can't afford to be shooting .40 S&W often, in that case you should be buying a .22.
Shooting a whole lot of .22 is sure better then shooting a whole lot of nuttin'.

In terms of colour, if we all suggested you buy a pink GLOCK - would you?

If you plan to shoot IPSC, find something else.
All the IPSC guys at my club had all given up their Glocks.
And my IPSC insturctor once said "Glock is easy to shoot, but difficult to master."
I gave up 2 of my Glocks...17&34.
It's your choice. :D
