New grips on my 1911C

pjnorth, have you held a 1911 with a flat main spring housing? I ask because the arched main spring housing feels better in my hand. 'rincos are known for hard steel and when it is time you need to choose a good gunsmith to do the sights. You will want to use a dove tail cut for the front sight. Lastly, prior to refinishing have a carry bevel done, it makes the pistol feel great in yourr hand. Regards, Richard:D

Yes, all the work is being done by me. I've had a few Colt 1911's, and thought it be fun to play with a Norinco. I prefer the flat mainspring housing / long trigger setup, it fits my hand well. The beavertail was an easy fit, just a bit of filing / shaping on the grip tang. I still need to bevel the mag well, and could go on forever sanding sharp edges (apparently the Chinese don't have time to smooooth things out :p ). Adding the full length guide rod and 22lb spring really improved the cycling w/ hardball. The stock recoil spring was really weak.
