pjnorth, have you held a 1911 with a flat main spring housing? I ask because the arched main spring housing feels better in my hand. 'rincos are known for hard steel and when it is time you need to choose a good gunsmith to do the sights. You will want to use a dove tail cut for the front sight. Lastly, prior to refinishing have a carry bevel done, it makes the pistol feel great in yourr hand. Regards, Richard
Yes, all the work is being done by me. I've had a few Colt 1911's, and thought it be fun to play with a Norinco. I prefer the flat mainspring housing / long trigger setup, it fits my hand well. The beavertail was an easy fit, just a bit of filing / shaping on the grip tang. I still need to bevel the mag well, and could go on forever sanding sharp edges (apparently the Chinese don't have time to smooooth things out ). Adding the full length guide rod and 22lb spring really improved the cycling w/ hardball. The stock recoil spring was really weak.
