I've been going into a local indoor range that baby sits non PAL users and have gotten to where I quite like the idea of shooting in IPSC, IDPA and other similar events. So today I bit the bullet and tied the big weight around my ankles and jumped into the deep end of the pool. I not only signed up as a member of this commercial range. "Member" mostly means I pay up front for the year and as long as I keep going regularly I end up ahead of the game. :D But "member" also qualifies me for price breaks on ammo and no need to pay range use fees. It also gained me access to their inner circle for purchasing the odd gun specials that show up......

So now I'm soon to be yet another proud owner of a CZ SP-01 Shadow. Perhaps by as early as next weekend. If not then then early the following week. At the same time I put my name in for the firearms course at the end of Nov. They are holding my gun until I clear the legalities but I can still go to the range and shoot it. By the time I get my PAL I'll be all set for the Black Badge course.

Can you see my big ear to ear grin from where you're sitting?

Next up is to find a holster for the gun and a few magazines. I'll hit up google and such but does anyone have suggestions for a Canadian source for a nice rig?

As a matter of fact it was all done through DVC. Winter and the rains are coming and DVC is the best place to play in the dark and wet times.

I realize I won't get it to take home until after all the courses and forms are done and the RPAL comes back but in the meantime they are going to hold my gun at the store and I can come in and shoot with it as if I was a regular drop in off the street. I obvioiusly just can't take it anywhere else until after all the legalities are cleared up. But that'll come soon enough.

Besides, there's many a round needed to be pushed through it for breaking in so I don't think it'll be a huge hardship having to do it there under their care and control.... :D
