You don't want to just go yanking on the gass plug without first braceing both the barrell and gass assembly. Pilgrams idea with a vice is ok, jut be carefull to put a towell between the vice and rifle so it won't be scratched up.
The plug is factory set at 85 Inch pounds, and they reccoment retorquing it. I just put it back on nice and snug.
Your gass piston should slide back, when you piont the muzzle in the air, it should travel freely, if it doesn't move, at all, then it's time to be cleanned.
Remember bro, the gass system is dry operated, no grease, no brake free "except the amount used to do the cleaning, no extra should be added for lube ect". or grease should be added...... and in order to clean the piston itself.... cleaning drills are reccomended. there are 2 sizes, for the cleanning drills man... (CLEANING DRILL DIAMETERS).... pick the drills up any hardware store..... #15 (.180 dia) & Letter ‘P’ (.323 dia.) drill for scraping the carbon deposits from the internal bores.
Muk out the gass asssembly good, where the piston slides freely inside, shuv the drills in the piston holes on at a time into the specific hole for the drill type, and twist, you will see the gunk come out....
and finnaly, reassenble everything

, using the Gass lock wrench, to hold everything straight while you re-tourque the gass plugg.
here is a place in the states where you can pick up your own M305 Gass piston cleanning kit, and gass lock wrench.
This company ships worldwide... enjoy !!!!

Remeber the importance of the lock wrench, I don't reccomend touching that plug, unless the wrench, or an equiviliant is on there.
