New Guy here with early Norinco M14 mag problems and Flash hider questions . . .

I'm sure there are many still alive that know far more than me about the m14 but I do have a lot of info packed into my brain hehehe

USGI wood and fiberglass stocks share the same dimensions and features. Both stocks require some modification to function correctly with the norinco action.
The main thing is the connector lock pin, which in a norinco is flush with the receiver. On a USGI rifle, the connector lock pin sticks out an 1/8th of an inch and the USGI stocks have a recess to accommodate the longer pin.
If these stocks are used unmodified, the norinco pin walks out into the recess which causes issues with the magazine immediately.
So there is a common modification that must be done.

I'll forward the OP to the M14 FAQ stickies at the top of this forum page. There is perhaps one of the best compilations of information by various Canadian experts as it pertains to the Norinco m14 family and the mods and tweaks we have all been practicing for a couple decades now anyways.

Wow! That is great. I look forward to your help. This could make a great low mileage rifle when I get the bugs out of it. Thanks again!
