New guy here...

Hey all! I'm new to firearms recently getting my RPAL. Prior gun ownership for me consisted of a wimpy vintage break-barrel air pistol we used as kids, as well as a <500 FPS .22 PCP air rifle for plinking. Why did I get my RPAL, well because I can frankly! :)

My first entry to ownership is a over/under 12 gauge and I joined my local trap shooting club, which frankly has been a complete blast for multiple reasons. I still suck at shooting trap, my scores aren't great yet, but the people at the club here are amazing and super helpful. I wish I hadn't left it so long. I'm not looking to go crazy buying more stuff, but it's easy to see how that can happen. One I'd like is a cool 10/22 semi with a shorter barrel to step it up from the air rifle for shooting some targets.

Anyway, that's me and thanks in advance for all of you who are willing to be patient and answer my new guy questions.

Cheers!
Chris

Welcome to the CGN from southern Ontario.
Trap shooting is an awesome sport and once you get the hange of it your scores will increase and you'll be shooting handicap in no time.
Ask away lots of good information here.
Is there a O/U your looking at ?

Thanks! Yes, I'm getting out as much as possible for trap. The more I practice, the faster I'll get better, right? Or that's the theory I guess. I have the O/U, picked up a Browning CX. It's been rock solid so far, I love it.
What I'm looking at for now is a 10/22 Ruger style in a shorter barrel length, just for plinking fun and maybe some target shooting.

Well fast is one thing just have to keep the barrel moving after you shoot and keep your head on the stock, Browning is a solid choice 👌 when you get some more range time are you thinking about shooting ATA? Or just club shoots?
And the 10-22 is also a good gun especially for mods sounds like you're well on your way of being a certified gun nut 👍🏼

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone! As far as trap goes, I think I will stick to club shoots, as in more for fun and personal challenge, rather than any hardcore competition. But, of course that could change! :)
