Hey guys, hope this is in the correct sub-forum.

I've been looking for a new rifle, preferably in .270, to use for targets and bagers/racoons at the farm. I've read numerous positive reviews on the T3, from accuracy, weight and bolt smoothness, but only negatives about the plastic cartridge. Anyone have any opinions/experience with the T3?

Also, without starting a new thread, is there anywhere in Saskatchewan than sells Tikka?

Thanks guys, my searching turned up nothing.

Lots of discussion on T3's. I have a 308 stainless T3 lite, and I would have no misgivings about the plastic detachable magazine. I see no reason it is inferior, and would give it the advantage of being rustproof and dimensionally stable. Think about a 308 as well. A good all around cartridge that is easy to reload for, and very efficient.

While the bolt is smooth, I wasnt all that impressed by the T3. I thought it felt cheap in my hands.

I like Winchester and Ruger bolt rifles, followed by Remington.

Do you already own other rifles? Just wondering why you think a 270 is a coon/badger gun? Somethign like a .223 would be more appropriate as ammo is cheaper and recoil less.

I love mine, I have two, very accurate. The plastic mag is very tough, I am not gentle on my gear. Guess what, not only the plastic mag never rust but unlike metal mags, they will never dent and deform either and will always work.

The new plastics are great, don't forget many new handgun frames are made of plastic.

My friend bought one in 222. The action was very smooth, had a great trigger, but the stock kinda felt cheap. It shot really well. I did not really like the detach magazine, kinda felt cheap as well. Although it would not prevent buying one if I could get a deal.

I really don't like the small opening of the action, you can't get a finger in there to free cartridges, with the one I had you could not load rounds by dropping them in the action, they had to be fed through the magazine. I got rid of it, it was a stainless varmint model, and would much rather have a heavy barrel 700 or some such.
