New Guy with a Couple Questions

Hey guys. I finally went in yesterday and did my exams for my PAL and RPAL. I am in the process of sending the forms away and I was just wondering if you can buy things with a copy of your test completion forms? I thought I heard my instructor say something about that...but I am pretty sure you can't..right? Also I am just wondering ...you need to be a part of a shooting club to buy a handgun correct? I am in Saskatchewan and was wondering which gun club is best that I should join in Saskatoon? I probably have more questions but that is all I can think of right now. Thanks!

You could put a deposit down with someone you trust like a dealer, although no transfer will happen. You also need to be a member, or applied to be a member of a handgun club to own restricted.

Hi. At this point you have nothing but the proof you passed the tests. That means nothing to a dealer. There's a 28 day waiting period anyway. Nothing about getting licenced is designed to make it easy or convenient for you.
If you opt to put a deposit down($100 isn't enough. Think 50%. Especially if the dealer doesn't actually have what you want and has to order it.), make sure it's returnable. Just in case, for some daft reason, your PAL/RPAL gets denied. Highly unlikely. Just a CYA thing. There are unscrupulous dealers who will decide they can keep a deposit. Very few and far between though.
"...need to be a part of a shooting club to..." Unfortunately, yes. The CPFO's get to make law by regulation/policy. There's no law that requires it. Their "logic" is that since you can't shoot restricted firearms anywhere but on an approved range and there are no public approved ranges, you must join a club. Mind you, being a club member isn't a horrible thing. You'll meet some great people, most of whom will go out of their way to help you, and it'll open doors. Invitations to go hunting, et al.

Haha ok thanks...Im not desperate. I will just wait until I get my license...I just thought it was an interesting (and apparently false) concept. I don't want to mess around with deposits and stuff. There are no ranges in Canada? I am new to guns (well officially...I grew up on a farm shooting them)
