Imperium as it’s a lot less chonky compared to the Briley.
Since it’s pretty new probably not a lot of feedback on it yet, but from what I’ve seen people are really liking it
That is exactly what I just did. I ordered the Beretta Mod 2 handguard from S&J. I REALLY wanted the Briley……but that price….Another option is the Midwest Industries, personally the Imperium is my favorite but went with the OEM Mod 2 simply because I couldn't justify the cost.
I wouldn't be concerned. Heat rises, so any heat transfer will be on the top. As there is an air gap between the guard and the barrel, any transfer of heat to the guard would be by convection which is the most inefficient mode of heat transfer. I'd suggest that by the time convection has made the hand guard uncomfortably hot, The conduction taking place between the barrel and the receiver would have you burning your face before your hands? We'd be talking about something like a 500+ round burn down with little to no time gaps between firing...not a practical concern in my opinion. Also wondering about the heat transfer from the Imperium since the top is so close to the barrel. I wonder how warm the lower part of the handguard will get.
The Briley is just so bulky, having briefly handled a 1301 with one I knew it wasn't for me. Pretty happy with the Mod 2 but need to find a suitable light for it.That is exactly what I just did. I ordered the Beretta Mod 2 handguard from S&J. I REALLY wanted the Briley……but that price….
I bought a Canadian legal extension from S&J as well as their barrel clamp with picrail and QD. I had an Olight Baldr Pro quick mount kicking around and when that was properly on the S&J picrail, it was exactly flush with the barrel. I know that would soot out the light/laser in no time, so I extended the barrel slightly with Beretta DLC extended choke tubes. It's only less than an inch extension, and gives the light some blast reprieve. The Briley is just so bulky, having briefly handled a 1301 with one I knew it wasn't for me. Still possible to come loose with Blue loctite, if you really want it to stay in place, use Red loctite.I bought a Canadian legal extension from S&J as well as their barrel clamp with picrail and QD. I could have moved the barrel clamp back, there's room to do that, but the mag extension is intentionally milled down to provide a stop should the clamp come loose (use blue loctite guys, she won't move wherever you put it.).
The Olight is great. Nice and bright. The laser holds zero. No complaints, and the dazzler is wicked.
Noooooooooooooooooo. Red is permanent. A fastener with red loctite WILL require to be heated to get it loose, Blue loctite will resist coming loose via vibration, loads, or shock, but can come off with some effort by hand.Still possible to come loose with Blue loctite, if you really want it to stay in place, use Red loctite.
If Beretta were wise, the 1301 mod 3, would come with an Aridus Imperium-ish front handguard and a tang safety like a Mossberg. It would then be perfection.I am going Aridus imperium. I know it’s crazy expensive but I don’t want to burn my hands and I also don’t want it to bulky
