So I have always loved old rifles like the k98 and mosin now im just wondering what if any rifles are prohibited
Also where would a good place to find some Milsurp rifles.
I kind of want to start a ww2 rifle collection.

-Thanks

Bolt action rifles and most semis are unrestricted.

Best source is the EE (Equipment Exchcnge) her on CGN. I happen to have a couple bolt action rifles for sale there right now, including a very nice German K98

Good choice on collecting WW2 firearms! You can try the EE milsurp section and place a WTB advertisement. WW2 refurbed Mosins are common in this section and can also be found at most gun shops. German K98's, depending on what your looking for, pop up from time-to-time. The main battle rifles are not prohibited (Enfields, M1 garands, K98s, Arisakas, Mosins, etc). Some will be restricted such as the M1 Carbine so be aware of that. Prohibited rifles will be anything automatic and most seem to be deactivated at this point anyways, as sad as it is.

More will probably chip in with advice.

Good luck.

A lot can depend on how rich you are.... or aren't, Friend.

You can still find rebuildable Lee-Enfields under $200 and ones that don't need rebuilding starting around double that. One of the best "deals" is the Carcano Model 1941, a rare rifle anywhere else but somewhat common (and most unappreciated) here in Canada. You can find a nice Model 41 about $300 and some of them shoot just wonderfully.

Think outside the box when you are starting out. I collect rifles by their ACTIONS more than anything else. There are hundreds of ways to make the things go bang and most of them are mechanically interesting.

I have a great regard for the Canadian Ross Rifles and for the Lee-Enfields as well, but my 'going camping' rifle is 137 years old (and looks it!): a little Mauser bolt Carbine in .43" calibre. It will flatten any Nasties that try to chew on my tough old hide in THIS part of the world..... and you can still find these wonderful old things in the $150 range!

Most important point of all: find something interesting and have fun!

Welcome to CGN and world of surplus rifles... however I'm really curious how you got your PAL.

Sorry that was kind of a mess of a paragraph. Reading that now again I feel stupid. Most of this was written on my phone so sorry for that. I geuss what I ment to say is which rifles are non restricted from ww2 , I could look it all up my self but like I've said I'm a noob and just want some quick info.

Most of the ww2 rifles are non restricted, and there are still some good ones out there to be had. Check the EE and the online sponsors here, they will have some good ones available.

Cool thank you I have checked out EE theres some pretty neat stuff on there.
Heres what im looking at maybe if someone can give me more info on if these guns are attainable I know some are for sure like the k98 and lee Enfield. I plan on shooting these if I get them one day so im intrested into see what people think are the better versions for each of these. Or if some aren't even worth the time. Also thanks in advance

I think you'd enjoy shooting a Swedish Model 96 Mauser too. Some are accurate as hell and recoil like a squirt gun.

Which brings me to my next question on pistols did a bit of searching some of the ww2 pistols seem like they will be very hard to come by. Correct me if im wrong.

buy the 5 pack deal from tradex and you will have a start to your collection and you wont get a better price you can sell the ones you dont want

I read stories of people calling multiple places asking the same question and getting a different response each time. I'm sure the same goes with firearms instructors. And you only need I think 80% to pass? Maybe this fellow's wrong answers were all about classification lol
