I just got my ClayshootingUSA. Don Brunt did a visit at Fox Harb'r in Cumberland County, N.S. It looks real nice and is owned by Ron Joyce (Tim Horton's anyone?). I did not realise that there must several hundred millionaires in Nova Scotia interested in shooting!

$10K to shoot 20 times!

I wish them luck,

Regards,
Henry;)

Henry, it's worse than you think! The $10K is just the annual dues. There is also a $5K "Initiation" fee. All that $15K gets you is the ability to pay $100 per round for the sporting clays course, or $60 per round for 5 stand. (In fairness, you may qualify for a 20% discount for the per-round fees.)

Who those are Golf prices.

It IS the most expensive place to shoot in Canada! I bet they don't change the target presentations every year. Ben set them, so why change!

One can shoot in Europe 4 majors in a month like I did several years ago for less: Euro, Italian, Belgian and World! Eat and drink for much less!

BTW, the World FITASC is near Amiens. This is a party and food city! This will be my third in a row visit and I don't care. The targets at Orville are VERY VERY good, the food and booze is great and cheap. It is also close to ALL the WWI and WWII battlefields. It is close to Bastogne and just a bot North of Alsace. One must visit Vimy.

Regards,
Henry;)

They only had 10 station sporting there, then. Since Ben has been there, a new outlook! I don't think that they can compete with the likes of Pawling Mountain near Millbrook, NY or that little island near Toronto. It looks like a Desmarais deal to impress his friends. Desmarais built a Scottish Manour, 8000 acres with Irish staff for then of thousands of pheasants and clays. Hillfingers owner did the same just North of Mont Laurier. Those guys have to proove to their friends how exclusive and expesnsive each location is!

Regards,
Henry;)

Ron Joyce was Tim Horton's original partner, who later purchased the business after Tim's untimely passing. Needless to say, Mr. Joyce grew the "Tim Horton's" franchise tremendously into a Canadian Business success story.

Fox Harbour is very different in nature from either Griffith's Island, Nicholson's Island or even Ile Aux Ruaux for that matter. It is obviously not designed nor intended for day use by the average shooting enthusiast (or golfer), but rather is a more of an exclusive private members "residence club", that provides limited non-resdient member participation. It's more akin to facilities like the Bray's Island Club, SC, or Meriwether Ranch, CO, than to a conventional lodge, shooting facility, hunting preserve or golf club. Generally speaking, one might only expect to get there by being either a member or by being hosted by a member.

The facilities, lodging & food are all excellent. The sporting clays course I would say is meant more as a "warm-up" opportunity prior to pheasant & chukar hunting on the preserve ... and not I believe, as a primary facility.

I do know that the airstrip is more than adequate for a business jet like a Citation !
