I just got an email from the hornady guys. It states that the flextip bullets they use in the LEVEREVOLUTION ammo will be available as separate components in 2009. So this may make reloading for my .30-30 and .307 win pretty fun indeed. Will anyone partake in using these bullets when they become available, or will you just stay using the round and flat nosed bullets for reloading?

They never made mention of any calibers other than .30 and .32 cal. They said that the .30-30 and .32 were for sure, but he didn't elaborate much. It took a long time to get an answer from them via email. I would imagine that it would be a limited release at first then expanding to the bigger cals. I want to get a .45-70 lever in 22" but I will wait until they come out with the .45 cal 325 gr bullets. This gets me all excited. I have about 70 .307 cases and its damn hard to find any ammo. That will be my first foray into their bullets. They said they definately were not doing any of the BIG BORE Winchester factory loadings that flashed in the pan such as .307, .356, .375 They didn't mean they wouldn't release the bullet components.
I was nagging them to do a series for the big bores but they wouldn't bite. Said the numbers of guns sold weren't enough to load for them.

I will definitely try them, however, for hunting purposes, my needs are met by what is available right now, so I expect I will stay with the traditional stuff.

When they first came out, I asked them about availability for reloading. Their answer was something like "Never..... Maybe...." Nice to see the Maybe came about. Keep bugging those bullet companies for what you want, you never know.
I was told my request for Barnes to introduce copper bullets for the 303 did not fall on deaf ears either, and that a 150 grain will debut soon, if it has not already.

I voted maybe. The traditional Hornady FN 265gr. Interlocks that I use in my .444 have done a very good job for me. I may try them in the 30-30 as I currently use factory Leverevolution in this chambering.

No, I won't be using them.
Just today at 100yards I was plinking 500ml water bottles open sighted with a Marlin 336 with hand-rolled Hornady 150gr roundnose bullets.

People look at the 30/30 with its archaic flat/roundnose bullet and give you the "Yup, good bushgun" line.
You need at least a 300WM to take a Deer right? Oh well.. ;)

My 336 marlin is still my favorite, but I have always held out hope that my
.307 winchester "Big Bore" lever would come out of semi-retirement. I just cant get a steady enough supply of ammo for it, and I seem to be holding on to my 11 factory rounds that I have left like they were the only bullets capable of warding off a home invasion. Hopefully, This gun will make a serious comeback in 2009 when I get to roll my own for it. I better get her out of the nursing home and start it on the treadmill to get in shape for next year. YEE HAW
