I have now got my hunters ed/turkey

Luckily I have friends willing to take me turkey hunting, and cannot wait for it, but I am very interested in going coyote hunting, how and where do you guys get into this?

Based out of Hamilton, any advice is greatly appreciated

read read read..... yote hunting is a true and very rewarding challenge.... I have takne 5 over two years... and all but one of them was an investment in calls and effort and a buttload of work..... best months to do yote are jan through march.... so you hav etime on your hands to practice...

I typed a huge response, then my daughter walked by and pressed the "off" button.

Short answer ~ Get a rifle. If you think you're going to hunt large game in the future and want to save money, buy a 270.

If you arent, buy a .223.

Keep in mind what you will be doing with the yote after you shoot it. You just cant leave it in the field.

Yote hunting is hard. You should watch videos on it and read books before you even go into the field. When I started I bought a "Hot Dog" coyote call and the "Truth 4 calling all coyotes." DVD. Taught me how to "speak the language" using both hand held and digital calls. I probably got skunked my first 20 times going out. Trick is don't give up, eventually you might just get lucky enough to dust roll old Wiley E. Anyway here is a little something for you to look forward to.

Coyote hunting can be very difficult to master. It's not impossible for a novice to get one, but it will not be easy.

Best advise I can give you is to spend as much time in the woods as you can. Even better if you can get hooked up with someone who is experienced.

You might want to start hunting game that offers a more immediate reward... I have hunted yotes and wolves for 40 years and it can be tough, depressing, and unrewarding... that is until it is VERY rewarding, usually suddenly. Grouse, hares, deer offer a better chance of success... but if you are determined and are prepared to "pay-your-dues," then hunting predators is a lifetime of fun.
