My brother in law has been wanting to take his CORE for some time now... so 3 weeks ago I booked him a test appointment and forced the prick to take it :D

Anyhow, he has shot a fair bit with me and shoots pretty darned well... even though he shoots wrong handed

We spent the better part of a day on Sat. hunting and saw a few bear, one being decent but could not get him his first critter, so headed out tonight to find him one in a spot where I took a great bear last spring.

Long story short.... we chased this old boar for ~ 1km as he was crossing country (unaware of our presence), and finally caught up to him as he was 20yds from the timber edge.

I asked him if he was ready, and then let out a loud "whoop". The bear was 172yds and walking directly away from us. At the sound he turned, and caught a 140gr TSX @ 3167fps from my 280AI. Bullet broke his left shoulder and exited out rear ribs on the right side, and he went down hard! One more for insurance and he had his first big game animal... and a fine one at that!

Great stalk, great shot, and great bear!

He told me he is addicted now... gotta love the new hunters... enjoy getting them on game more than myself!

Bear measures 6' 9 1/2" and skull green scores 19 12/16"

He was a heavy bruiser, I'd guess him at near 400lbs give or take by the way we grunted to load him!

Jeebus - that's a heck of a first kill! :)

Boone and crocket from the sounds of it. That's a hell of a momento of his first shot - getting his name in the books :)
