New IBI barrel on my go-to hunting rifle! Build pics up, hitting the range next week.

My wife bought me this Weatherby Vanguard SUB-MOA in 308 Win (Howa 1500 action, B&C stock, and a very good trigger) 10 years ago and it has served me well. It has been a very accurate and reliable rifle allowing me to harvest game out to 400m.

I neglected to adequately oil it before storage last year and low and behold, the barrels chamber suffered some corrosion. Given the history of this rifle, there was no way I was simply going to give it up. I ordered an IBI barrel and sent them the action to fit the new barrel to. Upon receiving the barreled action, I immediately sent it over to Red Tower Armoury for some fresh looking Cerakote and Teflon.

I just finished rebuilding the rifle and I could not be happier. It is a straight forward, purpose built hunting rifle for nearly all big game in North America. I am looking forward to another 10 years with this beauty.

I am hitting the range next week for some ammo testing and zero, then a big hunt at the end of the month followed by a long winter of load development. Range report to follow.

IBI 22" 308 Win 1/10t Medium Hunter profile with spiral fluting and 11 degree crown
Timney Single-Stage Trigger set to 2lbs
Bell and Carlson fiberglass pillar bedded monte-carlo stock
Excellent Glass bedding job by Reliable Gun in Vancouver. Everyone there is great to deal with!
Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 scope with Rapid-Z600 BDC reticle (I love this reticle. Its clear, quick to read, and uncluttered for ranging and reaching out to 600m. I would not attempt a shot on game past 400m but its good to practice at 600m)
Talley lightweight rings rock!
The cheek pad on the stock bag puts my eye perfectly in the scopes eye-box every time

The entire rifle weighs in at just over 7lbs making it a joy to hike with all day long.

Ryan (aka Longshot) at IBI did a fantastic and flawless job installing a .260 barrel on Accuracy International AT (formerly with a factory 20” .308 barrel).
Both .308 and .260 barrels both shoot into half an inch with boring regularity. It’s the loose nut behind the trigger that needs to be sorted out. I cannot hold the rig steady enough to shoot tight groups/potential of these barrels.

Most pleased to speak to anybody wondering about IBI barrels... Buy what works for you and your budget!

I just finished a similar build. I had my barrel finished at 18 inches and the muzzle measures .700. I chambered mine in 6 creedmoor. With an H and S urban tactical stock. And the Defiance Anti action. Took it out today and shot 3/4 moa with nosler acubonds. I think with some practice it will get tighter. I'd posted pictures but to lazy to learn how.
 
Looks awesome. Do you mind sharing what the barrel work cost? Also curious if they do the fluting to other factory barrels?
 
It looks like a $140 option roughly for a barrel, I’d guess at least $160-200 for a factory barrel, more if they have to remove it from the action and reinstall to do the work.
 
I think without the scope, sling or cheek pad bag and a loaded mag is where he’s getting that weight. Probably close to 9lbs as it sits
