New info on "MASADA" from Magpul Corp owner.....Mr Fitzpatrick.

I think for alot of civilian shooters, it's going to boil down to which is available on the commerical market first, the SCAR or the MASADA? Whichever company that gets it's butt in gear and puts rifles into civilian hands is going to make the most money.

The most money will be made by whoever is awared the larger Mil contract... but yeah as far as Civy sales go it's first out of the gate. I like them both so i guess it'll be one of each ;) :dancingbanana: :runaway:

Regards,

They call it a Combat Weapons System, so dodn't expect the US state dept to allow it out of the country.

I wrote a SHOT report for the CSSA magazine, and sent a rough draft to Magpul for proof-reading. I mentioned that if they call it a versatile all-purpose gun, rather than a combat weapon, they will be more likely to export it.

Oh well, I tried.

Thank you so much Scully, anticipation is killing me for this one... 18.5", folding stock, AR mags etc... hope the RCMP is gonna like it as much as me, and leave it unrestricted.

This is going to be like the FS2000, limited numbers brought in by private people. The state dept wont allow retractable stocks through the border, imagine a whole gun with one.

THe RCMP, or any government agencies, has no power to make it restricted because they don't like the look of it.

The government, including RCMP, go by the book, by the law and the regulation.

Then that whoever leaves it non-restricted...

Ohh, so THAT'S why the Benelli M1 Tacticals are prohibited, but the M1 Field's are unrestricted. And why the SPAS12 is prohibited. The list goes on...

How about a PS90 or FS2000 of which exactly the same thing was said..........and there are now examples of in Canada.

It pays to KNOW what you are talking about.

And your aware of the legality of the export of those eh?

The US State Dept is on RECORD as saying those have been illegally exported.

Cool...they even have an AK-type that uses AK mags...no mention of what calibre though for that model. 5.45mm maybe?

from the FAQ

Question: Will the Masada™ be available in 7.62 x 51mm NATO (.308 Winchester)?
Answer: The current design is intended for assault rifle class cartridges 5.56 NATO, 6.8
Rem, 7.62x39 (AK). Battle rifle class cartridges such as 7.62 NATO would likely
require a larger upper receiver in addition to the other major components but
could be possible.

So this is basically a fancy-looking AR-180 from a company that has no previous experience with building complete firearms. Why is everyone getting so excited?

Actually, that's what I'm wondering, too. There must be something there exciting people, but I can't figure it out. I mean, just because you've been making good accessories, doesn't mean you can create good rifle out of the blue. That's like, MagnaFlow saying since they've been making some good exhaust system, they want to start making cars as well. it doesn't make much sense, but MagPul IS doing it.
