New kid on the block

Interesting.

Some thoughts based on the video:

- Tight tolerances are great. I also hope they incorporated proper clearances and channels to handle debris in adverse conditions. Could be my misunderstanding, but the gentleman they interviewed seem to use the word "tolerance" interchangeable with the word clearance. Again, could be my misunderstanding.
- I do like the 90* bolt throw. Would like to know more about the "wheel ramp system", and I hope that system is reliable, especially in adverse conditions. Looks the cocking might be 100/0? If so, that's great.
- Rem700 footprint and triggers are great.
- Not a bad move to use existing tennon thread pattern, in this case Savage. Hopefully the tolerances are held tight enough that shouldered prefits are a thing. If so, you may be able to use existing prefit options like what's available for ARC.
- Hopefully there's bolt handle options, or at least they used a thread pattern that can take advantage of other companies bolt handles (like Bighorn/Zermatt).
- At $1299 USD, they are going to have a hard time breaking into the action market, at least down here in the US. The action market is very competitive down here, and people need a compelling reason(s) to go with a novel unproven action over the many great actions that currently exist down here (Surgeon, Bighorn/Zermatt, Lone Peak, Impact, Terminus, etc.)

Interesting to see where this goes, and would love to see some real world evaluations of this action once they get out into the proverbial wild.

I have no idea why would they do that. Really. Unless you are looking for an excuse to do machining for fun, another push feed for USD $1300 makes no sense.

With how saturated the action market currently is, its going to be a huge hill to climb to debut a new action from a new company that has no history, especially for $1300 USD.

Someone is obviously going to say this...

They have 25 years in machining and have done work for the firearms industry. Stoutjesdyk states "smoothest action in the world" and our initial impression is that they are reputable and knowledgeable in manufacturing.

According to the first video posted that claim appears to be BS since you can see the vertical play in the bolt cycling 1:07 and can tell there is resistance in the push forward of the bolt, switching rifles mid ejection makes me question things as well as I cannot find any footage of this rifle cycling completely without video editing cuts.

Secondly tooling marks on the bolt handle are visible on firearms serial number 100 040 & 034, that is not confidence inspiring at all to see a repeated neglect to the finish of the "smoothest action in the world".

More tooling marks and rough surfaces visible while a bolt is being assembled at 0:39 reinforcing my questioning on what other short cuts are being taken to get these produced.

The chewed up barrel lug is not part of what is included in the action but you would think a company would try and put out the best possible visual representation of their work especially for debuting at ShotShow.

I really want to have faith and show full support to all Canadian firearm manufacturers and businesses but I'm getting uneasy feelings about this one sadly.

The video uploaded by Shoot Pristine seems more of a big advertisement video for MDT/Vortex than their own product, anyone else get that impression?

Got to add a laugh into this post, is it really that hard to get your knob polished properly in this day?

Personally I wouldn't put too much stock in early serial number/working prototype actions. I'm not surprised that they aren't 100% refined. However if that is what the finished product ends up being, than I agree that its fairly underwhelming.

I think it's a dubious claim that a new action company is debuting the "smoothest" action. There are many actions that are exceptionally refined and "smooth". On top of that "smooth" is subjective. How one interprets what constitutes "smoothness" in an action varies from individual to individual. Its an intangible metric that's not really quantifiable.

There's listed on backorder for $1300 on rdsc

Why is 90 degree bolt lift a selling point?

Lighter bolt lift.

Simple physics. You have to compress the spring over the duration of cocking, limiting the motion over 60* means that the same amount of work has to be accomplished in a shorter duration, which means more physical force required to ####.

It's personal preference.

Some people want the bolt throw to be shorter (and there's valid reasons for that), others, like myself prefer a 90* bolt lift. I like my bolt lift to be light, and bolt close to be even lighter (100/0 cocking). The rifle doesn't get disturbed as much when you work the bolt.

Its completely subjective.

Clear answer, thanks!

Just received mine in the mail for a 6mm Creedmoor build I’m starting. Good quality machining to the naked eye. The claim of the smoothest action… I would tend to agree. Let me qualify that with what I have experience with. I have owned AI, several stock r700, several Tikkas (which are buttery smooth) and a Barrett MRAD (which is smooth but in an unconventional way).

Bolt lift…. I don’t have a gauge but it’s more than 4 lbs. It’s is light, but not 4 lbs light.

I will say that the MY action is marked with:
Pristine Technologies Inc
Canada SN 000###
Cal: Multi
BV. Lynden WA

The last part makes me assume that the action was imported from the US. Not the end of the world, but I will say that I wanted a Canadian Action. I know I’m still supporting a Canadian Company who may have had it machined in the US to expedite business plans, but it is a bit of a disappointment. Waiting on the barrel and will let you guys know how she goes. My action shipped out within one business day from ordering.

Looks promising. I’m thinking of trading off my Origin to get one of these.

Really?!?? You think this action offers more than the origin? I don't see the appeal of this pristine action at all. What about your origin would make you move to this? I have an origin for reference and for the price, I don't know if it can be beat

Yeah I hate my Origin. Weak extraction, feeds funny. I’d sell it but the IBI barrel I have on it is a hammer so I need another Savage thread action.

That's too bad. My experience has been completely positive. I prefer it over my TL3. Regardless, this pristine would be the last thing I'd look at.

Have you ever got a case stuck in the chamber? I had a couple bad brass cases that were hard to extract. The extractor claw on the Origin pops off the case rim pretty easily. IMO the extractor should trash the case rim before it popping off.

Origins are known for having weak extraction, but that seems to mainly bite the neck size only crowd. I've never had trouble with mine but I full-length resize.
I see that Pristine has their tenon print on their website, did they finally make these consistent enough that smiths can spin up shouldered prefits for them?

I've never had hard extraction or any stuck cases. I've ran 308, 223, 6 creed and 22 creed through it without any issues.
