I recently picked up this old girl off the EE and can't wait to try it out.
Its a Mossberg 146b-a tube fed bolt action repeater,built between 1954- 58 I believe
Its seem to be in great shape I gave the bore a good cleaning as well as the bolt and a new coat of gun oil.Trigger breaks at 2.5 lbs.even the red and green safety, fire dots are still there.
I figured the old bushy 4 power was in bad need of an upgrade so I swapped it out to an HST 6-24x50 I had ,I also had a set of 11mm dovetail 30mm BKL rings left over.
Next up is to see what the old girl can do at 50 yds,its probably never had any decent target ammo run through it.
Wish be luck!
Thks again old timer for the great vintage rimfire!

Nice looking .22, let us know how it performs.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the old girl can do. Was planning on camping this weekend but we may get rained out,if so I hope to get out for a few hours shooting. I have lots of different target ammo to try from Aguila right up to midas plus.

I had a dozen or more old mossys at one time, kept 2....a 46b and a 146ba. Both shot better then all the rest and look pretty nice too.

Nice! It makes me happy to see that there are people who still appreciate these rifles. And I also think you'll be impressed. If it's anything like mine it'll be silly accurate.

Nice find. Looks to be in great shape. You might want to try CCI Blazer as well.Boxed(50) not bulk. It shoots really well out of most of my Mossbergs.RWS rifle target(orange box) shoots the best out of my LSB.
Scott...

I managed to get out for a first test session with the old girl.It was fairly poor conditions with a fairly brisk wind but I didn't care I wanted to try it out.
The old mossy ran flawlessly today not one FTF FTE of issue cycling rounds from the tube fed magazine.I ran a good mix of ammo from federal bulk target up too SK rifle match.
I found the rifle match to be the best so far in this old girl.It did not like RWS club, green tag.I even tried some HV ammo getting similar results from mini mag 40g ,SK HV,AE 40g
My biggest limiting factor other than the wind was the thin schnable front end of the stock wanting to roll every time.I,m going to fab up a wood block thats flat on the bottom and screw it on through some of the holes in the stock
My best group today was a .357 and I worked for it.Shows me the rifle is capable of some decent results.
Next time out ill give it a strict diet of rifle match and a flat for end and no wind should shrink these groups
