You have to register online, for an FWID. Once your identity is proofed and verified, you can buy your license and tags online. They'll come to you in the mail, when hunting you'll need photo id, you'll need to know your FWID and you still need tags per usual. New ones come in a plastic like car stock but with a similar design as the booklets - they're just individual cards.

If you can make it to a service bc office you can still get the booklet this year. I have the book because my online account wasn't working right so I went in person.

Do you still get one for ur all species? I never got a card for that.

You do not get a hard copy of the annual licence or what you are calling the "all species" or small game licence. It is digital only now. COs will be able to look it up using your ID and/or FWID # it also makes sense as in you would not be allowed to purchase the big game species licences without it so why have to carry both?

If you buy a general hunting license from your gun store etc in person your license is just a one page printed piece of paper instead of the old booklet, then your individual species tags are plastic like cards they print for you. I can't comment on the online process as I didn't go that route this year.

You'll need a BCeID first, then identity proof (upload photo id) and your hunters number, it will be verified and you'll be issued a FWID. After you have your FWID, you can purchase a hunting licensing valid for the current season tied to your FWID. This is looked up electronically in the field by CO's. You need to know or have written down copy of your FWID in addition to government photo id on hand when hunting (along with tags if needed). You are not sent any cards or id's for FWID, but it does appear on the species tags / cards that will arrive in the mail, subject to Canada Post delivery times after processing. You can always see your information, current license and tags in your on-line profile.

Conservation officers can look up your FWID on line and find out everything about your licence and tag purchases. Even your LEH info.

I happened to have an older style booklet with a black bear and mule deer sticker in it purchased in April, but a couple weeks ago when I went for more tags, I was issued separate stand-alone black bear and elk tags.

I was checked by a CO September 10 and he could tell what area I had been drawn in for elk.

Are you replying to me or the OP, if the OP then I suggest you quote him as he has the hunting liscense and species tag question. I answered a question and wasn't asking one. I'm familiar with how it works as I hold a current BC hunting liscense as well as species tags, resident hunter card and updated FWID number.

I was responding to the on-line process statement, not question. I'll remove the quote then.
