New look for a Colt Lightweight Sporter in 9mm and some Colt 634 questions

I did the same barrel mod to mine, but my Colt OCD kicked in and I put the stock barrel back on...the RRA barrels are nice and fit well but the are overly heavy too...

Ok guys, got some info from a fellow that actually owns a Colt 634! Barrel diameter at the front sight block is .625" as I suspected. His stock is fibrelite, as is mine. From what has been gathered, an aluminum stock on the earlier guns is correct as well. Receiver extension is a 4 position, again this may be different on some older guns. The biggest surprise to me was barrel length. They are indeed 10.5" in length. The reason that my barrel looks longer.....is because it is! He told me in an email that they were 10.5. I asked him to measure again precisely as my barrel definitely LOOKED longer. He did so, verifying that his is 10.5. I then measured mine, and discovered that my "10.5 inch" barrel is actually a fraction over 11 inches long! This is measured by a rod from breech face to the end of the threads, not counting the flash hider obviously. I would be interested in hearing from others what their actual barrel length is measured in this fashion! Two other things that I have asked him and am awaiting answers for pertain to the castle nut (his looks like a newer style nut with notches in it, I had assumed they would be the old style) and the method of indexing the flash hider. I am assuming that it would be a peel washer, not a crush washer. I will get back to you on these.

Should be a split washer. Peel washers came out so you could index A2 flash hiders. 9mm's have A1 flash hiders and don't need to be indexed.

You're right about the measurement thing. People will still use the 10" measurement because that's what a 5.56 barrel would measure with a rod down the barrel. There is no barrel extension on 9mm's so they measure longer but appear the same length. What you should be asking the guy is how much barrel protudes past the FSB. Should be able to tell the length with a good photo too.

Leg is correct. Stainless split washer for the flash hider. And the castle nut is the newer style.

I politely asked the gentleman that was kind enough to send me detailed pics of his if he would sell it to me. I don't think its going to happen any time soon!:(

Someone sell me their 634 pretty please....

wont sell it but here is a pic to tease you...... (my 9 yr old son claims its HIS rifle now....)

That is the first firearm I ever fired when I was a kid in the USA. It was a Colt 9mm full auto. I'd love to get one of those. Just out of curiosity what does the Colt Lightweight Sporter in 9mm go for?

Not trying to hijack, back you can make your 9mm into any configuration and still be correct. There are quite a few variants used by various agencies.

Here's mine that I built out of basically extra crap I had sitting around in a box doing nothing, so I put together this "minute of gong" 100m blaster: Colt 11" barrel, fold down sight (I forget which manufacture PRI maybe?), even the grip I don't really like the finger lump, so I just ground it down. I had the bolt "ramped" and it works smooth. I believe anyone with a 9mm (Colt style) should have the bolt worked on.
It's my, basement NV clearing heater. The light was a present from Santa Claus this last Christmas..... Ain't she great:D
