I just stumbled across a low optic mount for the VZ58 rifle.

Looks like it's made by CSA

Has anyone here looked into these? Any site sponsors going to be selling them?

Anyone?

I have been in contact with CSA in Czech Republic, the pointed me in the direction of North Sylva. The finally did answer me and told me to reach out to my LGS (Either Saskatoon Gunworks, or NORTH PRO SPORTS to order one. However North Sylva did not have the part number???? So, kinda a runaround so far :). Zahal had them on their website, but have not seen them in stock thus far.

I like it but it just adds the extra weight i don't want compared to the railed dust cover but the price difference may make it that much sweeter

Good point.

I like the railed dust covers too. These low profile mounts come with the side rail and are $118US.

Who knows what they'll cost in Canada.

What options are available for railed dust covers right now?

I haven't spent much time looked at railed dust covers.

Well :D The new dust cover units come with springs installed.

The replacement dust cover is one of the premium options to make a Vz58 into a truly optics compatible platform. This unit replaces the original dust cover and locks onto the receiver of the rifle with two bolts.

This is considered by many to be the best possible way to run sights and scopes on the Vz58 and Cz858 rifles.

We charge $275 for our dust cover

That being said: we've discontinued the old cantilever mounts and are now only selling the CSA low profile mount: http://www.zahal.org/products/sa-short-optic-mount

Keep in mind: disassembly with a dust cover mount is more work. Whereas these low profile mounts have a QD lever.

We sell the low profile alone for $75 USD, but if you need your side rail too they come together for $125

The dust cover does not come off with the LPM type unless you remove the entire mount. You also loose the use of your iron sights. However, you can gain about 2mm by swapping out the really fat rail with a skinny one.

Can you still use the regular iron sights on the gun with this mount installed?

True, but it's QD, and holds zero when put back on, so for the sake of 3 seconds for removal when cleaning the rifle, I can't see that as a con. Same deal for the loss of iron sights. Sure, I can use them with my regular mount in place now, but that said, every time I have used the irons along, the mount is hauled off.

Glad to see in stock Zahal!

The dust cover mounts can still use the irons no problem and YES they retain zero after disassembly but they are priced a bit more.
Again I prefer the dust cover over anything else and I have tried everything except the new LPM

so much win in that low profile dust cover removable one! i currently have the one from wolverine that sights high enough to be able to use the iron sights, but if one vendor here is selling the lower one as show in previous pictures! im a taker!
