It seems that some of the recent M14S have stocks that feel different than Chu wood. For those that have examined these Norcs, do you think it is a different wood, perhaps (wishing hopefully) a true hardwood or is it just a different finish? I know Chu wood can be made to feel harder like my Chinese SKS with its shellac coat.
