New member IWI x95 or HK SL8 for range toy

IWI probably, at least you could shoot it standing. (offhand) Both expensive to buy/feed, I'd want a range close by for shorter visits...or a hefty ammo budget.

Have you tried both?

I was also considering Keltec RDB, but quality seems like a down side.

I have a « buy once cry once » mentality. I would rather spend more for a quality product. Both x95 and SL8 seems to be good quality. Is the SL8 not enjoyable to shoot standing? Thanks!

Ignore him
He doesn’t know what he’s talking about
I can’t remember the last time I didn’t shoot my SL8 standing up
This rifle is my go to yote rifle.

It’s bloody reliable and accurate

I handled a tavor and didn’t like so I bought the HK
Never looked back since

For a range toy, you should look at something from Mattel or Fisher-Price.

The items you mention above are guns though, and of those I'd do the X95.

You are right. Guns aint toy. But you understand what I meant. Looking for something fun at the range. Short and long distance.

Thanks for your recommandation

May I ask why is the x95 your choice? Thanks

Parts and accessories are pretty common and affordable for the X95.

Neither of these things are true of the SL8. The HK takes a low capacity, proprietary magazine. To adapt it to take proper G36 magazines, it takes a lot of work and cost.

Also it bothers me that the SL8 is bastardized from a military model to make a "politically correct" one for the civilian customers that HK hates.
The X95 is exactly what the Israeli military uses, minus select fire and with a longer barrel to make it less regulated under idiotic Kanadian law.

I had this same question. I like the look of both, but ultimately picked the x95 because I wanted a bullpup. You can't go wrong with either. The SL8 is better for bench shooting, the X95 better for run-n-gun type stuff. Both are nice, both will be pricey.

Got both - SL8 is accurate. The X95 is easier to shoot I find, just because of the way a bullpup works with the weight in the back. Love both. I shoot standing up with both as well. The X95 does have more readily available goodies, with the SL8 having less aftermarket options.
