Hi,

For my first gun purchase so I purchase online? It seems prices are better than in a physical store. Any suggestions would be welcome on this.

If you know what you want shop around on-line. Brick and mortar is best bc you're supporting local. Online is a good place if the dealer is reputable. I had a great experience with Al Flahertys. Cheers.

My advice is go fondle a few “on the shelf” firearms at a buddies place if they’ve recently purchased them. Find out what fits or what you like. Go to a store where they have an enthusiast working not just someone that takes up space. They should be able to ask you the right questions. You might end up as I have buying something that you thought would work only to have it replaced. Going to a physical store might be able to mount the optic if said firearm needs one. Lots of different rings to mount the optic properly. They can pick and choose until they get it right.

Buying local instead of a big box is often a better choice.

I was torn about this as well. While my PAL was in the mail, I stopped by a local shop. They had a used Ruger SR22 rifle that had a bipod and decent scope on, for a lot less than it was going to cost me to outfit a new 10/22. The guy spent a good half hour explaining everything to me. They offered to hold it for me while my PAL was on the way. Sometimes the service you get and relationships you build from a local shop are worth the extra money it costs you.

I would suggest going this way... you can always do online when you have more experience.

I’ve ordered online from a number of CGN and other vendors and had good experiences for the most part. If you shop around the prices/selection are often better compared to big box stores (Cabelas, etc.) even with shipping costs. Also depending on where you’re having items shipped they may only charge 5% GST

Nice thing about buying in a store is you can see, feel, and inspect the rifle you are buying
Buying online you hope you get something decent as you can’t see what your getting
That said I’ve bought most of my stuff online and have gad good luck, only been disappointed a couple times
