New model vs older model Ranch Hands?

Can someone tell me what design differences there are between the new and older ranch hands? Is one better then the other?

If you are looking at one give it a look over in person. The one I got had the bolt face all smashed up, pitted barrel, and dinged crown... not very impressive! It was all blued over so obviously came from factory like that. Its still out for warranty for a new bolt, barrel, etc.
seems hit and miss.
Oh yea and mine had a taller front sight

Rossi's are best inspected before purchase that's for sure.
Haven't heard of any new safety?
