Just bought these today. Nikon 12x50 Action EX binoculars.I got them at Forest City Image Center, which is the home of Binoculars Canada in downtown London Ont.They have absolutely awesome clarity and are great for eyeglass wearers such as myself.If your looking for great binoculars without breaking the bank,I highly recommend these.

I'm not sure what you mean by flatness of field but the clarity is incredible with absolutely no distortion around the edges. BTW these binoculars were $210.00 plus tax which I thought was pretty good for this kind of quality.
 
Hope you have better success than I did with Nikon 10by50 actions had to send them back for calibration, they never would focus, 3 times keep your bill, maybe there better today bought mine about 5 years ago
