Yesterday at the range there were a few guys talking about this new gun coming out ( one of them already pre-ordered the gun ) that basically is "Canada's AK". Apparently looks very similar and takes all magpul AK furniture and mags.

Anyone hear of this? I cant find info anywhere and I have forgotten the name.

This isnt that type 81 or whatever its called chinese gun. This is US or Canadian made and operates like an AK but is non restricted from what I was told

Define "operates like an AK". If it's an AK action, it's prohib either by name, or variant. (Except the certain Valmet rifles)

The WR762?

M+M is the US manufacturer. The rifle in question is the M10X. In Canada we will receive the so-called "Designated Marksman Rifle" version with longer 18.6" barrel. Google it.

Yep thats the one, just googled it, doesnt really look like an AK at all though..........

Edit: found some better pictures, I like it

Closest thing to an AK right now is the Type 81. Anything else that comes to our market is a look alike that may take the same mags or similar firing mechanisms. Nothing will come close to the Type 81 as far as similarity to the AK.

The M10X is actually much more similar to a Swiss Arms than an AK.

The Swiss arms is based on the functionality of an AK, but uses a long stroke piston.

the M10X also uses a long stroke piston, and the bolt looks nearly identical.

Also having the spring on the pistol and not behind the bolt like on an AK is yet another reason why the M10X is closer to a Swiss Arms, and not an AK.

Did the Type 81 pass the test? Still legal and NR?

People still shoot them at the range. Not many around but I see them every time I go.

Question, didn't this whole thing with M10 price bump resulted in CAD retailers telling FU to manufacturer and refusing to bring it in?

Point of fact: ALL AK's use a long stroke piston. If you'd been able to own one, you'd know that. Type 81, Vz 58, SKS all use a short gas system. it's one of the reasons they couldn't call them a variant.

The Robinson Arms uses a long stroke gas piston, no? It reminded me of My Valmet Hunters bolt carrier with attached gas piston. The Type 81 rotating bolt is virtually identical to an AK rotating bolt, but then the carrier is different. I can't remember now if the difference between bolts was overall length between the AK and Type 81. I gotta check again when I get home.

North Sylva will be sitting on a pile of them while we enjoy our Canadian made WK-180C's and (for those that pony up a bit more) the Canadian made Maccabee Defense SLR.

phuck Mikey Mouse

I must have missed what happened... I realize there's a non-restricted WK-180C but haven't heard about any NS drama. I don't do pre-sales and such anymore.
