Wow...good luck passing that silencer through the CFC.

You made me take my SKS bolt out so I could look down the bore again...nice shiny bore :).

Are you shooting that SKS in your back yard ?

That was some nice shooting, Kiwi!:)

Considering you were using an ironing board for a rest, and your target was moving in the wind, you did really good.

That is nice accuracy for an SKS. Those four shots were tight!:D

You should try some 174 gr. or 180 gr. reloads. It should suppress the noise signature even more.

so what are you posting on this website .. do you love canadians that much you would want to share this beauty with them ????????

There ya go.
;)

That's great, thanks man.

yeap NZ = suppressor paradise really. I can't understand why nations restrict their use but then again gun politics revolve around irrational knee jerking at the expense of responsible citizens anyhow.

yes I'm in NZ and that's the back porch. Subsonics are definitely the way to go to get maximum utility from the silencer.

InsanSh I actually only posted this on the SKSboards.com but a member there pm'd me saying I should put it here also so I did. And yes, Canadians are great :D

Thanks for sharing your vids!

I've heard people say that bolt cover scope mounts aren't that great but after seeing your video I find it hard to argue with your results.

Thanks guys.

freefall I would say that probably most sks receiver cover mounting systems and the standard version of the scope mount I used aren't too good. The reason this mount worked was because it had been modified to accept the forward allen screw which is really very important. I have shot using the standard mount without the allen screw and the standard issue roll pin that sits at the front of the mount on the receiver buckled after about 40 shots and I didn't know what was going on. Very frustrating. I mentioned this weakness of the standard mount in the 1st vid. Can't say it would happen habitually but it makes you wonder.

welcome grant , very nice grouping in the wind .

i have a couple of those mounts and i been thinking of modifying them , i prefer not to remove it every time when cleaning .

themaninblack, pleased to say much better than the irrational knee-jerking that produced Aussie gun regulation. In contrast the knee-jerking results here aren't too bad. Basically you are required to get your firearms license which means passing a 20 question multi choice, have a guy come round and interview a family and non family member referee as to your stability, and receive a police background check (probably also done on referees). Upon getting your FAL you may own anything that isn't full auto or semi autos with mags greater than 7 rounds, flash hiders, pistol grips, or bayo lugs (MSSA rifles). A semi auto with those busy-body-triggering cosmetics means you need to go through the red tape to get your E-cat license, after which everything is available except full auto.

Currently we are waiting on a decision regarding whether certain thumbhole stocks come under "military style free standing pistol grip" and thus require E-cat license. The Police randomly decided out of the blue to institute this policy that affects me and many others. A guy by the name of Richard Lincoln correctly dragged the police to court over it about 4 months ago and formed the National Shooters Association www.nsanz.org.nz (the existing firearm lobby group flopped over) We await the judges decision currently.

anyway that's rather off topic but gives you an idea of where we are at.
