Just picked up a new-to-me 1908 Winchester 1895 SRC in 303 British. Finish is worn off (except in the hidden areas), stock is original (forestock is a little loose), bore is still got heavy rifling (with very minimal pitting in the grooves). Its a 58,000 serial series and the action works like a dickens, smooth and with no hang ups. Haven't shot it yet and don't have pictures until tonight.

I am quite happy to have an 1895, they don't seem to be around much but I am still learning about them. Can anyone tell me what kind of numbers we had up in Canada? I have found production numbers on the US sites, but I would be interested to know if anyone has more info about them up here.

Thanks.

Good score 'bro.

I have no idea how many made it up here but I know that on a now defunct lever gun collector's site state side these rifles in 303 British seemed to be rare. They were always hackin on us Canadians to spring'm loose, thinking they're all up here type of thing.

pics would be cool. Hopefully some of the more knowledgeable Winchester guys will chime in.....

Thanks salty, no pics yet, gotta bug the wife to bring the camera home. It's a very neat rifle. Being used to the 1894, having the width and bulk of the '95 in my hands sure is exciting in comparison!

yea, Saddle rings really seal the deal for me. A small part in relation to the whole package, but in my mind for some reason, having a saddle ring is one of the most important parts of the rifle, followed by nice tang stamps, patent stamps, proofs and barrel markings. :)

I ache for a '95 now. I'd grab one and put on one of those cluttered looking but oh-so-###y on a '95 peep sights, wish I could find the website for 'em.
