Thought I would post a couple of pics of the new optic mount I just fitted to my SKS. It's the Wartak SKAR SD-R Tactical SKS Rail System from Prophet River.

This thing feels solid as a rock and only took about 20 mins to install. Just got a little red dot on it now to try at the range this weekend but I may drop a small scope on if it works out ok.

The rail mounts to the pin location of the standard rear sight for its front mount and to the back of the cover for the rear. You need to remove the standard rear sight and remove the take down pin for the cover (not much of a pain really). As it's a full length rail it has a built in shell deflector to protect any optics mounted on it. Take down for cleaning will be a bit more time consuming, but as I only shoot non-corrosive it shouldn't be that bad. Gonna be interesting to see how well it holds zero.

Well I can report back after running 100 rounds with the red dot and another 100 with a 1-4x30 scope that this thing really does a good job - make sure you don't have anyone on your right tho - that shell deflector really throws the cases a good distance!!

How much tighter are your groups?

I have a 4 MOA dot on one one my SKS rifles, but it got 4 MOA previous to the Dot. So it didn't really accomplish much unless I require to shoot in low light or dark.
